LOCAL ACTIVISM

The Paris Agreement is a pact that 146 nations around the world have joined in order to combat global warming. They have pledged to reduce carbon emissions and work toward total renewable, clean energy. Even though Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris Agreement, many states and local leaders have decided to honor that pledge. Lawrence’s mayor is among them.

This week, KOTUS and the SunRISE Youth Activists group teamed up to write letters of support to Leslie Soden, the Mayor of Lawrence to thank her for her supporting and to ask her to keep on moving toward 100% renewable energy. You can see their postcards here.

Boys & Girls Club 4th and 5th graders wrote postcards to Governor Brownback urging him to join other governors in honoring this pledge too. Check out what they wrote here.
